We loved our stay at The Sofitel, Beijing, especially the wonderful breakfasts.
+ Staff were helpful and attentive. Breakfast choices were awesome. We loved our spacious room, with a jacuzzi and great views of the city.
− The option of a packed breakfast for very early starters would have been useful.

Room not fit for purpose
+ Location, views, breakfast and the beautiful library. Most of the staff were friendly and approachable. Once my room issue was resolved, I enjoyed my stay!
− The restaurant discount they say you'll get, you never get!! It's for certain restaurant at certain times...never!! On checking in I was told I had to pay deposit on checking out I tried to ask if I was due any money back...but the communication was bad, I just gave up in the end. So upto now I do not know if I was charged deposit and how much! I was initially put in a dilapidated room. Furniture is old and not fit for purpose. When I went to staff initially I was told there was no other room similar to the one I booked. Only room available was on 4th floor. I declined because the views were important to me. Then surprise surprise there was a room on 18th floor. The lady in charge on that night then begged me not to mention the incident. Offered me 100RMB discount and free breakfast. I declined because I was not after money. Then she offered me voucher for restaurant discount 100RMB off after spending 500RMB in a single seating!! I told her no thank you. I would never eat a meal for 500RMB solo! Then she sent another member of staff who offered free meal at one of the restaurants, in the end I just said yes for peace.

بسیار عالی
+ Location, staff, breakfast.
− The hotel's rooms need a facelift; some things look worn or in poor condition, and I believe a hotel of this caliber should pay attention to these details.

Nice for a first time visit to Beijing.
+ The room was really cool and it was about a 5 min walk to line 2. The room is well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Overall staff were lovely.
− When I arrived my Alipay was not working, I had asked for an ATM, but one of the staff members insisted I change my cash with him, only to discover there is an item in the lobby. Did not appreciate the dishonesty.
