A luxurious landmark in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Royale Chulan Hotel offers 5-star Malaysian hospitality and a large outdoor pool with sun loungers. It has a gym, free Wi-Fi and parking in the basement. Within the Golden Triangle District, Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur is less than 0.6 mi from Pavilion Shopping Center, Bukit Bintang and Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. It is a 45-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. We have the MRT station nearby which walking distance from Conlay station to hotel. Decorated in pleasant neutral shades, air-conditioned rooms offer the comfort of classic European-style furnishings and flat-screen TVs with international channels such as CCTV. Private bathrooms are equipped with a rain shower and bathtub. Slippers and free toiletries are provided. A hearty buffet breakfast at Warisan Cafe starts off the day. Friendly staff are fluent in English and Malay. From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. + The location is excellent. Next to pavillion but on the quiet street of conlay. Comfortable room. Good breakfast.

Apart from the pest issue, it was generally good
+ Location is good. Spacious room, spacious bathroom with shower, bathtub and toilet all 3 separated from each other. Equipped with separate portable water faucet. Room service is efficient. Food is tasty. Friendly front desk.
− A lot of light switches are not functional. Lamp shades degraded. Furnitures need to refurbish. There are few Roaches in the room, crawling on the mini bar.

Very Good
+ Beautiful old hotel if somewhat past it's prime in terms of patronage numbers and the style of the room decor. It has a beautiful ballroom that's beyond the huge entry hall. It's a very beautiful hotel and the designers really built it to feel grand on arrival, including the twin staircases. It was homely and I had a very pleasant stay. I stayed in the large suite with the kitchen and living room. The balcony here is big. There are a lot of back rooms on 1st floor that seem unused and musty. These are the old function rooms and boardrooms that must have quite a lot of history to them. There is a hotel buffet and the staff were all very nice and welcoming, we enjoyed interacting with them at the evening meal. However it did seem a little expensive for what it was. The location is a short walk (in European tourist terms, we like to walk) to Pavilion but it isn't under cover so bring a brolly. As far as I'm aware there's no short-cut to walk to TRX. The cultural centre is next door and has a great selection of Batik clothes and some crafts as well, and an imitation traditional country house in its grounds. The MRT station is just across the road too, 5 mins walk. You can get to TRX directly that way.
− Overall it was really my style of hotel. But is seems it's been a bit neglected for development and it needs a 2020's refresh, even though for me then it would lose some of its charm. The food buffet was a little expensive. My suite had a kitchen but it had been stripped, so not functional as a kitchen. Just the fridge left really. It's walkable to Pavilion but it's a 10-15 mins walk for young people and not recommended if somebody is older or wants a simple and comfortable holiday with instant access to the shops.

+ The breakfast was good, with plenty of options to choose from, and the bed was comfortable, making for a pleasant night's sleep.
− The property is a bit dated, especially items like the towels. The carpet had an unpleasant odor, and there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke throughout the space. It also wasn't as clean as expected, which made for an off-putting first impression.

+ The room was spacious and luxurious. The bed was comfortable. There was an amazing selection of food and stations for breakfast. The staff were very friendly. They had a nice pool. the location was great and we were a very short walk from a subway station.
− They had planned maintenance work which didnt go to plan. The power went out in the entire hotel at 6am which caused a health and safety issue. There was no notice of this planned work. Given they knew it was happening I was surprised that there was no backup generator . Lifts didn't work. There was chaos trying to find out what was happening, and navigate the nine floors threw dark hotel corridors and a series of back stairs to get up and down to the lobby. The hotel gave us a free evening meal by way of compensation as everything was topsy turvey for most of the day .

Old world elegance in the centre of the city

Very nice hotel
+ Very elegant hotel, staff very attentive, close to Pavillion Mall.
− Lighting could be improved in the room, and there is no need for the microwave, cooktop etc. If they were removed it would give more room to store luggages.
