Owned by a talented flower artist, Peking Garden Youth Hostel-Houhai&Nanluoguxiang&Drum tower-Cafe&Bar&Movie night&Social area&Rooftop is housed in a traditional Chinese building located along the lively Nanluogu Xiang, one of the famous Hutongs in downtown Beijing. A short 5-minute stroll from Houhai bar area, the hostel features a charming garden and colorful rooms with air conditioning. Free WiFi is available in all areas. Peking Hostel is a 30-minute walk from The Forbidden City and Tian’anmen Square. Nanluoguxiang Subway Station is 820 feet away. The scenic Beihai Park is an 8-minute drive away. It takes 40 minutes by car from the hotel to Beijing Capital Airport. Using bright, soothing shades, all rooms come with wooden flooring, an electric kettle and a writing desk. Shared bathrooms also come with a hairdryer for guests' convenience. Towels can be rented at the front desk. Guests can relax on the sun terrace, organize hiking trips, or spend a quiet reading afternoon in the book bar. Laundry, fax and photocopying services are also available. Tours and shows arrangements can be made upon request with the help of the cheerful staff. Car charters can also be arranged. Simple yet delectable meals by a foreign chef, drinks and snacks can be enjoyed at the hostel’s café, casual setting filled with scented flowers. Alternatively, there are many restaurants located within walking distance of the hostel.

Nice centrally located hostel
+ The location was good to be in the middle of the Hutong.
− Sometimes there were people outside the room listening to videos without headphones. Otherwise the rooms were surprisingly quiet given how it is the middle of one of the busiest streets in the Hutong.

Good hostel in the heart of a hutong
+ Great location in the heart of the Hutong. The hostel has great facilities and the staff were amazing. They were super helpful. The communal area and the roof terrace were great.
− The shower needs to be regrouted and cleaned.

Effective layover centrally located in historic Beijing
+ I used this place as a day stay during my long layover between flights. Great location smack on the middle of historic Beijing, close to a subway stop (line 6), easy to book. Basic rooms but nice mattress, only low berths used for guests so no climbing, AC, curtains, magnetic card to enter room, well priced. Very nice people at reception, both in the morning and afternoon.
− Shower/bathroom not developed (mind you, my precious destination was Japan). An upper small window in the room opened directly into the terrace or a space where others were talking loudly in the afternoon.

Pleasant stay
+ It is located in a prime location, ideal for solo traveller. The staffs are friendly and helpful, got the opportunity to have a nice chat with other travellers.

+ Location is really good. But if your height is over 130cm, you will probably hit your on the roof of one of the male rooms… for the price they charge, they should probably get better beds and the lockers were broken and it could easily get stolen. Bed was too hard and no natural lights in the rooms.

+ Location was amazing!!! In a very buzzing hutong area with many food options, not far from the subway station.
− The bedroom itself was ok, bed was comfortable, but they didn’t have the curtains for privacy. The shared bathroom wasn’t very clean.
