Baros is a feeling, not just a resort.

+ We only had one brief night at Baros, and somehow that was enough to know that we will return. In fact, I already know that Baros will be one of those rare places we come back to again and again. There are resorts that are visually stunning, and then there are places that have something much harder to create; soul. Baros has it in abundance. We had just come from another beautiful Maldivian resort, which was absolutely stunning visually. But Baros showed us the difference between a beautiful resort and somewhere that has a genuine sense of place. Baros has heritage, character and a feeling that is difficult to put into words. It leaves something with you when you leave, and I think that is something you simply cannot manufacture. The island itself is gorgeous. Lush, dense jungle vegetation, beautiful beaches and that classic Maldivian feeling. It is wonderfully small and intimate, and despite being a resort, we could barely see another soul. At times it genuinely felt like we had our own private castaway island. And then there is the barefoot aspect, which we absolutely loved. Shoes simply aren’t necessary. Walking barefoot through the sand and vegetation, surrounded by nature and with the ocean just steps away, gives Baros a wonderful connection to the island. It feels like stripped-back, pure Maldives luxury; not overdone, not pretentious, just incredibly beautiful. The service was excellent: warm, attentive and completely unpretentious. A special mention has to go to Salini, who looked after our every need. She was just a WhatsApp message away and regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Our stay was far too brief to remember everyone’s names, but Salini certainly made an impression. The food was exceptional. The breakfast buffet was genuinely one of the best we have experienced, with an excellent choice and quality. There is an a-la-carte option too. Our evening meal was completely five-star, both in terms of the food and the service.

− There is one small drawback: on one side of the island you can see Malé. We would naturally prefer an uninterrupted ocean horizon, but honestly, please don’t let that put you off Baros. It is such a small part of the overall experience and does not take away from what makes this island so special. In fact, our only real regret is that we only had one night.

+ Loved that this is a natural island with natural vegetation, and is easily accessible from Male only a 25min speedboat away. We loved every minute on Baros Island. The staff were all so kind and helpful and offered great customer service. Especially Sujata (Suzy) and Keeth and Noyon. All the food was absolutely amazing, especially the buffet breakfast with fresh sashimi each day, and the Saturday night Asian buffet was top quality food with so many incredible choices. The house reef was great for snorkelling, and our over water pool villa was are very comfortable and private. We loved that it was traditional looking, however the outdoor deck area and all wooden decks and walls could do with a varnish to freshen up the look. We highly rate Baros Island and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a romantic holiday. We would love to go back. 😍🙏

− It is pretty expensive to stay here but pretty sure that goes for all the Maldives. The over water pool villas are very comfortable and traditional looking, however the outdoor deck area and all wooden decks and walls could do with a varnish to freshen up the look.

+ Excellent location – The resort is only 25 minutes from the airport, making the transfer quick and convenient. Romantic and cozy atmosphere – The island is perfect for couples looking for a peaceful and intimate getaway. Beautiful villas and landscaping – The resort is stunning, featuring beautifully maintained landscaping, modern luxury villas, stylish interiors, and spacious rooms. Considering the price (around USD 1,100 per night, including half board and airport transfers), it offers excellent value for money. Outstanding customer service – Our personal assistant, Sam, was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay, making the experience even more enjoyable. Great beach and snorkeling – The beach is beautiful, and the snorkeling is excellent, with plenty of marine life to explore. Overwater Villa – The villa was absolutely amazing, luxurious, and spacious. The private pool is noticeably larger than those at many other resorts. Food quality – The food was delicious, and the breakfast buffet offered a good variety with beverages included. Recommendation – I highly recommend experiencing both villa types (for example, two nights in the Overwater Villa and two nights in the Beach Villa), as each offers a unique and enjoyable experience.

− Limited half-board dining options – Guests on the complimentary half-board package can only have dinner at one restaurant. The dinner menu is somewhat limited, including only one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. Beverages are not included with dinner—not even water. Pool temperature – The Overwater Villa's private pool was noticeably colder than the Beach Villa's pool, even though both are maintained at room temperature. A pool heater would significantly improve the experience. Limited complimentary activities – Most activities, including kayaking, require an additional fee. There are also very few activities available during the evening. No jet skis or bicycles – The resort does not offer jet skis or bicycles to protect the marine environment and because the island is relatively small. While this is understandable, guests looking for more recreational options may find it limiting.

+ Our 3-night stay at Baros Maldives was truly exceptional, and before we even left, we were already planning our next visit! From arrival to departure, everything was seamless. A Baros representative welcomed us at the airport, assisted us to the speedboat, and another staff member even stayed with us during airport check-in on our departure until everything was completed smoothly. As first time visitors to the Maldives, we really appreciated this thoughtful level of service. The resort is only about a 25-minute speedboat ride from the airport, making it very convenient, especially for shorter stays. Despite being so close, the island feels incredibly peaceful and secluded. We were amazed by the marine life! you can easily spot reef sharks and plenty of colorful fish right from the beach villas. The food was consistently delicious. Breakfast had a good selection of both Oriental and Continental dishes. Lunch portions were generous enough for two people to share, and dinner at Lime Restaurant offered a nice variety of Asian and Western options. We also enjoyed cocktails at Sails Bar and The Lighthouse Restaurant, both of which had a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. Our villa was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The bed was amazing, and the housekeeping did an outstanding job every day for keeping our villa clean and tidy. What truly makes Baros special is its people. Every staff member greeted us with genuine smiles and made the effort to remember our names, making the service feel more warm and personal without being intrusive. A special thanks to our villa host, Sam, for making our stay sooo effortless. She was attentive, thoughtful, and even acknowledged our delayed celebration, making us feel genuinely special throughout our stay. Baros is the perfect place if you’re looking for tranquility, exceptional hospitality, and incredible marine life. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience! we can’t wait to come back!
