− The entrance to the property is at the rear of the building and it’s not clear how to gain entry or what floor the hostel is on.

− Staff not at desk, bed and lining not reade at the moment of check-in. Doors and toilets have some issues nowñt working properly.

Room ok but not the hotel I booked

+ I'm surprised by the good reviews honestly. What I will say is that once I managed to get the hotel room, it was fairly decent (despite it NOT being the hotel I booked). It had ambient lighting, a large enough shower and a fridge in the room and snacks and drinks you could buy. The room had a kettle and a communal area in the hotel where you could heat things up. Hotel very close to the Central State Museum - which is a 5 minute walk away.

− I arrived late at night to find the Good Inn Hostel was in fact closed. There was lots of junk outside the entrance and when I went in through the metal door it looked like an abandoned warehouse. It was way too late to make other arrangements, so I contacted the host. After a while, she contacted me and informed me that the location of the hostel had changed because the previous one didn't have hot water. About 30 minutes later she and another lady took me to a different hotel (called Salem). That hotel only accepted cash payment, which was very inconvenient as I only had dollars and my card. (Some hotels in Uzbekistan let you pay in dollars if you have that in cash - this one did not). Reluctantly, the administrator for the Salem hotel let me pay the next day and came to knock on my door early the next morning to demand that I go and get the money. I did and thankfully it was sorted. Communication with staff difficult - they spoke almost no English - apart from the lady who came to collect me. I must admit the room I ended up with in the end was ok as far as rooms go, but the original reason I booked the Good Inn was because apparently it once had a semi-social atmosphere. This one definitely did not - Salem (the hotel I was rebooked to) is just your standard, non-social hotel. Laundry very expensive. Be sure to contact the host and ask for the exact address you will be staying before your arrival. So you don't end up wondering around and exploring dark buildings in the middle of the night like I did.

Very comfortable but not for backpackers

+ Property was comfortable and clean in a good location, private lockers and privacy curtains gave it a pod like feel which was nice.

− This hostel is primarily a workers hostel, no social element and labourers come in and out of the rooms all night have no regard about noise or turning the light on at 4am. Staff were nice but not on the same page, we messaged ahead with some requests which were excepted and then rejected on arrival by other staff.

Avoid

+ The local is fine, next to Dostyk Plaza

− * Common areas are cluttered and untidy, e.g., frequent overflowing rubbish bins and poor hygiene throughout the property. * Serious safety issue: front door locked at night with no way to open it from inside without staff assistance. Major concern in case of fire: Primary emergency exit could trap guests in case of fire. * Staff are rarely present at reception, always need to text or call. * Slow and unreliable Wi-Fi. * Bathrooms poorly maintained, e.g., toilet paper frequently unavailable. * Only 2 of 5 shower/toilet units sometimes worked, causing queues * Staff difficult to find when supplies were needed. * Hot water was inconsistent or unavailable.

− No hot water WIFI didn't work and we were not provided one that worked even when we asked for the other passwords Bed sheets were smaller than the mattress so the smallest movement implied we were sleeping directly on the mattress

+ Location is everything for this hostel. It is extremely convenient, especially if you're looking to do day hikes from Medeu, the bus stop is right outside. There is a huge supermarket across the road too, and all the city attractions are walkable. Price is very fair, and the beds were comfy with curtains. The shower and toilet facilities were especially good too.

− There was a bit of a language barrier, but no fault of the hostel. Just be aware if it's a deal breaker for you, but it is no problem really.

+ Location and room were nice. Polite staff and comfortable facilities.

− Lots of students that stayed until very late at night. Front desk person didn’t control the noise, even though officially it was mentioned that no noise allowed after 11PM. We had to ask everyone to keep it quiet around 1AM, since it was uncomfortably loud.

+ Clean bathrooms and dorm good lockers slippers mini lockers and kitchen living room area modern and convenient. Good location across major mall and not too far from famous spots easy to get to

− Air con not working in dorm and in four nights never got fixed...two toilets also not working never got fixed. Had no problem taking shower or getting a bathroom but they should fix the problems. No hooks in bathroom or in bed . Locker OK for backpack but not suitcase
