Unique hotel in the heart of Sultanahmet. Perfect location with friendly staff and charming rooms.
+ This charming hotel is exactly what I wanted. Not a generic modern Euro-hotel, but a more pansiyon feeling. The room had tasteful and charming Turkish details like carved wooden doors and headboard, framed Turkish textiles, and plush velvet bolsters and chair. The bathroom had a European step-up, sit-in bathtub (no leg room), a marble sink, and old-fashioned patterned tiles on the floor. The location is amazing, within easy walking distance of all the highlights of the Sultanahmet. The small lobby is a perfect place to meet your tour guide away from the crowds. Murat at the front desk was always happy and helpful. Great restaurants abound in this area as well. Accessible from the Tramway or Rail stations in a short, but uphill walk. The included breakfast is not in the hotel but across the street at the Panoramic Rooftop Restaurant. The buffet offered lots of variety and even coffee. Don't miss the view from the rooftop! Be careful though, if you stay here long enough you will know all the maitre d's and shopkeepers in the area by name. They make you feel like you have made new friends.
− Not a thing I didn't like. Everything was perfect. One thing to mention though is that the elevator is teeny tiny. The small one-lane roads in the area sometimes lead to traffic congestion, so you may hear a few honks from cars and taxis.

+ This is our fourth time staying at Merial. Location, breakfast, staff, everything is excellent. Towels were changed every day.
− Cleanliness should be at a higher level, especially the bathrooms.

good value in the center of old town
+ We stayed at the hotel for few nights with my husband. The room is small, but it was clean, safe and quiet. The location is very central and you can easily to the public transport from there. Main tourist attractions are easily accessed by foot. Breakfast was excellent and provided plenty of choices and was served at the hotel next door. The staff at the hotel was attentive and the most kind to us. We felt safe staying there. Good value for the money. I recommend you staying you staying there if you don't mind the size of the room. The room had a kettle and the fridge.

+ Great value for money. Center, key attraction points are nearby - if you're a tourist, it's a strategic location. Comfy bed, good sleep. Clean. Breakfast with a view. I love Istanbul, so I'm a bit biased - but I would stay here again 😊 PS - my room was on the 4th floor with windows to the street. For one person it was just right.
